Remove the face of the alarm.
Ceiling fire alarm beeping.
But before you do anything determine if your smoke detector is battery only or hard wired.
For example in case of a fire your smoke alarm will continuously beep.
So if your alarm has gone off at random times for no reason there s a very high likelihood that dust has settled onto the sensors.
Other reason for a smoke alarm beeping or chirping erratically could be temperature fluctuations in the house.
The beeping sound usually means it is time to change the batteries.
Here s how you can clean the dust from out of your smoke detector to stop it from beeping for no reason.
Remove the smoke detector from the ceiling by either sliding or twisting it off.
If the smoke detector is wired then you must also disconnect the wiring plugin from the smoke alarm.
This is usually done by rotation of the detector until it releases from the base.
If it beeps with spaces chances are the batteries are low.
Turn the power off to the hard wired smoke detector at the circuit box.
Replace the batteries every six months and check the units once a month to ensure proper operation.
Another reason why the smoke alarm chirps could be if it detects hot air coming from the kitchen or bathroom.
A beeping alarm means that there is a problem with the unit which typically is a dead or dying battery.
If you set the thermostat at an unusual very high or low temperature the smoke alarm detects this and issue a sounding alert.
If the smoke detector beeping continues despite replacing the battery remove the smoke alarm from the ceiling.
